Day care schedule
Hours of operation
The child care facility will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. I also do limited weekend hours in some instances. If there is a schedule you are looking for, we can discuss your needs and go from there.
Holiday schedule
Each year is a little different. I hand out a new holiday schedule in December for the year to come. For 2009, the planned holiday schedule is as follows:
- Jan. 1-2 in observation of New Year's.
- May 25 in observation of Memorial Day.
- Sept. 4 and 7 in observation of Labor Day.
- Nov. 26-27 in observation of Thanksgiving.
- Dec. 24-25 in observation of Christmas
Paid vacations
The day care is closed for two weeks paid vacation each calendar year. I take one full week off and other days as needed or in case of emergency.
In 2009, I have a vacation scheduled for May 26 through May 31. Day care will re-open on June 1.
Fees
Fees are due in full Monday for that week of care. In the event of a bounced check, the check writer will be responsible for any bank fees incurred by me and will need to issue another check. If more than two bad checks are issued, we will need to find an alternative payment method.
Fee chart
- Part time care - $75 per week for up to 20 hours.
- Full-time infant (six weeks to two years old) $135 per week
- Full-time preschool (two years to five years) $125 per week
- School age (six to twelve years) $60 per week
- Full-time school ager during summer, $100 per week.
Late fees
There is a late fee of $5 for every 15 minutes a parent is late picking up their child past 5:30 p.m.
Notice
In the event we decide a child can no longer attend the day care, we will tender two weeks notice.
If our services are no longer needed, we require two week's notice. If the notice is not offered or is not possible, payment for those two weeks will be required.
First Aid / Illness / Medication
- A complete First Aid kit is kept at the daycare.
- Parents will be notified of any accidents that occur during the day
- If a child becomes ill during the day, a parent will be notified. We will then decide, based on the nature of the illness, if the child needs to be picked up right away.
- If a child will be staying home, please contact the daycare first thing in the morning.
- All prescribed medications must be in the original container. As-needed medication must be labeled with the child's name. An authorization to give a child medication must be filled out with each new prescription.
- Please notify the daycare of any special health concerns you may have.
- The following are reasons that would require an immediate pickup and teh child to stay home for at least 24 hours are:
- Fever over 100 degrees
- Diarrhea
- Vomiting
- Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
- Head lice
Please remember that these rules are designed to ensure a healthy place for all of the children and to prevent others from getting sick.
I will notify you if one of my children is sick, but I will stay open. It is your choice to bring your child as my children have no other place to go.
Typical daily schedule
Meal times:
- Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Children arriving after 8 a.m. should have breakfast before arriving.
- Morning snack is from 9:15 to 9:30 a.m.
- Lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to noon
- Afternoon snack is from 3 to 3:15 p.m.
All children are asked to participate in nap time. If they do not sleep, they are asked to rest quietly. Nap time is from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Infants will nap as needed, but we do try to get them on a schedule.
When there is no school, schoolagers usually watch a movie during nap time.
We as that parents limit pick up or drop offs and phone calls during this time, as these activities can wake the children.
Daily schedule includes:
- Free play
- Outdoor play
- Creative activities
- Stories, songs, rhymes
- The television is on for less than two hours per day. When the weather is bad we will sometimes watch an educational movie.
Additional information
Arrival/departure
Children must be escorted in and out of the daycare area. Please try to greet me in the morning as I may have something to tell you that day. IF someone other than yourself is picking up the child, I must be notified in advance.
Behavior
All children are asked to be respectful to others, including the adult in charge. In the event if a child misbehaving, we will discuss what they are doing wrong, how they can do it better next time. We also use "time out" as a deterrent. We also ask that parents replace toys that are intentionally broke at daycare. This does not include normal wear and tear on the toys. If a child is being destructive with the toys, we will let you know.
Birthdays
We like to celebrate each child's birthday at daycare. If a parent would like to provide a special treat for that day, let us know. Otherwise, I will provide a treat for the children.
Clothing
An extra set of clothes should be available each day. This should include socks, underwear, pants and a shirt. There are many ways children can require new clothes, including bathroom accidents, getting dirty outside or a spilled drink. Each child must have winter gear in the cold months.
Items for infants
Parents must supply wipes diapers. While a child is on a bottle baby formula or milk must be supplied. After one year, I will supply food unless a parent wished to supply their own.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in and around the facility or play area at all times.
Toys from home
It is OK for a child to bring a comfort toy from home for nap time. It will be put up until nap time and then put away when nap time is over.
It is asked that all other toys be left at home. Over the years I have found sharing to be difficult for the younger ones and it is better that they use the toys provided at the day care.
